Fun way to learn place value. Various number combinations are presented for adding up. The numbers are chosen so as to avoid having to carry numbers over, which means the student can concentrate entirely on the concept of place value. These worksheets tackle the concept in various fun and highly visual ways, taking much of the strain out of the learning. Like all Bounce Learning Kids worksheets, these start out simple but become progressively more challenging as you work through the sheets. They provide instructions as well as testing acquired knowledge.

Suitable for printing in B/W as well as colour.

Ideal for distance learning - no prep required!

Each worksheet is presented as an individual JPG but there is also a single PDF that contains all the worksheets together, so you have the best of both worlds to choose from.

100 can be thought of as a bundle of ten tens - called a “hundred.”
Understand that the three digits of a three-digit number represent amounts of hundreds, tens, and ones; e.g., 706 equals 7 hundreds, 0 tens, and 6 ones. Understand the following as special cases:
Given a two-digit number, mentally find 10 more or 10 less than the number, without having to count; explain the reasoning used.
Add within 100, including adding a two-digit number and a one-digit number, and adding a two-digit number and a multiple of 10, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used. Understand that in adding two-digit numbers, one adds tens and tens, ones and ones; and sometimes it is necessary to compose a ten.
