In this 24 task card and activity you’ll find two different activities. The first is a sort and match that has students analyzing each number and breaking each one down to the sum of its parts. They will cut and paste a matching equation to each number.
The second activity is a set of 24 task cards. Each has a number (up to 9,999) followed y 4 multiple choice options. Students will decide which correctly matches the number being represented.
I have used the first activity as a partner/group activity to get the discussions going and build that confidence in number sense.
The second, I’ve used as an assessment, small groups for those students needing extra practice, gallery walk around the classroom and even homework. The more practice students are exposed to, the more confidence and fluency they build in regards to numbers.
