This is a bundle of two activities teachers can use to reinforce the names for important locations in a school and how each place is used. This packet includes a close activity which lets students practice using the location names, asking and answering questions, and explaining the uses of each spot. It also includes a worksheet which asks students to map their own school. This is a good way to encourage familiarity with their school environment. The packet also comes with an answer key.

These activities can be used independently or in conjunction with "Getting to Know School Staff", "School Flashcards", or "Finding My Way: A Mini-Lesson on Maps" (three other items listed on this page) for additional practice.

These activities were created by Elizabet Wendt for an adult multilevel ESL class in Oakland, CA. This material is appropriate for adult education, Family Literacy, school orientations, and high school or middle school ESL classes.
