This Bundle has two readings, and an extravagant ppt with accompanying guided notes. The readings consist of Chief Joseph's famous point-of-view on the state of his people and their relationship to the 'white man'. And also a very interesting article (which I am not selling, merely including) on how the Cherokee tribe is attempting to kick out mixed freedmen to allow more public money to go around for traditional tribesmen... neat reading to bring home some of the relevance of Native Americans to today. Note, I did not make a lesson or activity for either reading... they're supplemental resources mainly for discussion, but you're welcome to use them anyway you want.
The PowerPoint is loaded with cool animations, pictures, quotes, and interesting facts/vital content for students. It hits on key components of the Plains Indian tribes and the role they played in U.S. history during the latter half of the 19th Century. This includes, Sand Creek, Treaty of 1868, Battle of the Little Bighorn, major tribal leaders and plains cultural aspects. It is neatly organized and flows well. Look for the asterisks next to certain terms, people, etc... those are there for students to underline/highlight for key information in their guided notes. These notes go with the same titled powerpoint. They are concise and allow the students to focus on the lesson. They also have built in bellworks and focus questions. Please note they contain the content, but not quotes, supplemental information, etc. Basically, everything you need without dragging the kids down in detail.
