In this PBL Series project, students work in small groups to plan their own road trip across the United States then create a digital presentation using a tablet to document their journey. Using the apps PicCollage and Thinglink, students can incorporate text and images to showcase the different restraints outlined in the project requirements. Step-by-step student-friendly directions for how to use these two apps are also included.
Within this project, students will review the geography of the United States, review their state capitals, learn about various other major cities within the US, practice their map skills by routing their journey, and have fun by visiting different famous sites across the country.
Project Constraints Include:
-Visit at least four different states
-Visit at least two state capitals
-Visit at least three major cities
-Travel on at least three major highways
-A different arrival vs. return route outlined
-Visit at least one national park
-Visit at least one national landmark
-Include at least five images in final product
-Bring back teacher a souvenir (in the form of an additional image)
This product comes in the form of a ready-to-go student project packet; just copy and distribute to your class. A lesson introduction/overview is provided as well as helpful hints on getting started. Research notes pages and a detailed rubric are also included. An additional teacher grading rubric can be found at the end of the document; simply make a copy for each student for individual grading.
