Product Description
I made up this lesson when I was planning my own holiday to New York this year. My students were interested and I told them that they could help me to decide what attractions I should see. They loved the idea!

In this lesson the students work in groups of 4. Using the information and maps provided they have to make a 'mood board' on A1 sugar paper of a proposed itinerary. The information slides on the powerpoint should be printed off and given to the students - these can be cut out and used on their boards.

I've kept the conceit of planning their teachers trip because I feel it encouraged the students to engage with the task. The powerpoint that is editable so you could put yourself into it rather than have your class plan a random person's visit!

Lesson contains a 16 slide Powerpoint with information and photos of:
-The Empire State Building
-The Statue of Liberty
-American Museum of Natural History
-New York sightseeing cruise
-Bloomingdales
-Broadway
-China Town
-Little Italy
-Time Square

(I've also included two maps that I used with my classes but they are simply googled photographs.)

If you have time and access to a computer suite you could have the class research other places on line to extend the learning further.

I hope your students find it as interesting as my class did - when I went on my holiday to New York I did take photographs on me at the places I visited so the children could see that I followed their advice - they loved the power!

Thanks for looking!
