It is my hope that this will help your students become more familiar with the planets in our solar system. Most importantly, I feel that these game cards have limitless possibilities for games and activities. I have listed a few ideas below, but I’m sure you can think of even more creativeways to use them.
Note: I have included Pluto because no one seems to agree if he is a planet, a dwarf planet, or nothing at all, so feel free to use that card as needed.
- Ask students to put the cards in order. You could print two (or more) sets and have teams race to put them in order the quickest. (my personal favorite)
- Label distances in the hallway or outside to show distance to scale between the planets.
- Give each student one card each and have them put themselves in the correct order.
- Use the cards as flash cards, writing facts about each planet on the back or the card.
Whatever you do with them, they are made to be simple and fun, however it works best for you and your students!
Keep in mind that these gamr cards were created as a part of a space unit bundle. If you feel that you will benefit from all the assessment related items, I have a "Solar System Assessment Pack". If you would like all of my Solar System unit materials, I have "Solar System Unit Bundle" which includes these cards, a test, study guide, reading passages, task cards and many other space related resources available at my TPT store. This can save you MONEY :)
