This is a review game that I use with my students to review the characteristics of the different planets of the solar system. It can be played by students individually, but I usually have them work in pairs or in groups of up to 8. Each group uses a MacBook. (PowerPoint version coming soon for PC users.)
This game consists of 14 regular questions each worth 2 points, and 4 bonus questions each worth four points. The regular questions ask students to click on the planet that matches the description. The bonus questions have students put the planets in the order that they appear in the solar system and complete sentences that give a description of the inner planets and outer planets in general. When any question is answered incorrectly, the students are instructed to subtract a point from their score and are then redirected to the question to try it again. I usually have my students play the game through once, then start over and switch teams so that each team gets every question. They also pay closer attention to the other group's questions and ultimately get more out of the game.
The preview version of this game is in PDF format and includes the direction slides, one regular question, and two bonus questions to give you an idea of how the game will play. Because of the PDF format of the preview, the animations only work in the full version and some of the slides work a little differently.
