Product Description
Need a jump start to your planning for the second semester, in your music room? This helpful product is a growing bundle, and will eventually include the following:

*Monthly planning template for each month: Can be used for each grade level, to plan out the month
*My completed monthly plans I used for January-May 2016, for grades K-5: These will include song choices, picture books, dances, and more! Several links to resources, picture books, and blog posts will be included. This is intended to give you inspiration for your own plans!
*Lesson Plan Weekly Planning, updated for January-May 2017: This document helps you plan which lesson each class/ grade level is on for each week of each month.
*Materials for each month: One file from each grade level, for each month, will be selected to be included in this set. These materials include games and activities not currently in my store. Some will be posted after each month they are posted in this set, and some will be exclusive to this set. Materials/games for January include:
--Kindergarten: Mr. Stingy Man (one of my favorite musical stories, could be used any time during the year!)
--1st grade: Snowball koosh ball PDF and reading assessment for ta and ti-ti
--2nd grade: Mitten melodies koosh ball PDF for do (includes staff and stick notation)
--3rd grade: "Let's go to the movies" game for low la (has students identifying melodic patterns by listening, then transferring stick notation to the staff. Could be used at any time in the year!)
--4th grade: "Shoheen Sho" slideshow to practice re and BAG on recorder (could be used any time during the year!)
--5th grade: Low sol winter-themed flashcards
--1st-5th grade: New Year's Day rhythm flashcards (includes 8 flashcards for each rhythmic concept: ta and ti-ti, rest, tika-tika, half note, ti-tika, tika-ti, syncopa, tim-ka, tam-ti)
--Bonus freebie from Amy Abbott: Puppet patterns for ta and ti-ti and 2-beat meter!

Materials/games for February include:
--Kindergarten: Bee rhythm chart (can be projected onto a SMART board or printed out for kids to point to)
--1st grade: "Clap, Stamp, and Play" game for ta and ti-ti
--2nd grade: "Let's go to the movies" game for "do" (has students identifying melodic patterns by listening, then transferring stick notation to the staff. Could be used at any time in the year!)
--3rd grade: "I can fly" game to practice naming and playing notes on the lines of the treble clef staff
--4th grade: Recorder fingering charts for BAGE
--5th grade: Snowball koosh ball PDF and reading assessment for syncopa (eighth/ quarter/ eighth)
--1st-5th grade: Valentine's Day rhythm flashcards (includes 8 flashcards for each rhythmic concept: ta and ti-ti, rest, tika-tika, half note, ti-tika, tika-ti, syncopa, tim-ka, tam-ti)

Materials/ games for March include:
--Kindergarten: Bee high/low signs (can be projected onto a SMART board or printed out; includes signs with just a high and low bee and no words, and signs with the words "high" and "low")
--1st grade: St. Patrick's Day rhythm chart, to practice ta and ti-ti
--2nd grade: Flip book and patterns for "do" (Students use flip-flap books to "write" the patterns on the sheet.)
--3rd grade: "Pease Porridge Hot" visual, for students to figure out how to play on barred instruments (to practice the lines of the treble clef staff)
--4th grade: "Recorder Rehearsal" Game for BAGE: includes four levels of play, which is great for differentiation, as if students play individually or with a partner on an iPad, they can choose their level of play!
--5th grade: "Let's go to the movies" for low sol (has students identifying a pattern with low sol aurally, then visually identify the same pattern on the staff. Could be used as an assessment!)
--1st-5th grade: St. Patrick's Day rhythm flashcards (includes 8 flashcards for each rhythmic concept: ta and ti-ti, rest, tika-tika, half note, ti-tika, tika-ti, syncopa, tim-ka, tam-ti)
--A bonus freebie from Amy Abbott to practice syncopa!

Materials/games for April include:
--Kindergarten: Bee Bee rhythm tracking sheet
--1st grade: "Build a house" game for sol-mi
--2nd grade: Paper plate improvisation activity for tika-tika (could be adapted for other rhythms)
--3rd grade: Spring patterns PDF and reading assessment: Students can throw a squishy ball at the smart board and read the pattern, or choose a flower and read the pattern. A separate reading assessment sheet can be used in centers to individually assess students' ability to read patterns; a rubric is included.
--4th grade: "Mystery Mission": an original accompaniment track and song for "D" on recorder
--5th grade: SQUILT (Super Quiet UnInterrupted Listening Time) Worksheet for "Ah Vous Dirai-Je, Maman" by Mozart (Can be used to teach theme and variations)
--1st-5th grade: Spring rhythm flashcards (includes 8 flashcards for each rhythmic concept: ta and ti-ti, rest, tika-tika, half note, ti-tika, tika-ti, syncopa, tim-ka, tam-ti)
--A bonus tika-ti freebie from Amy Abbott! (Her game isn't included in the page count!)

Materials/games for May include:
--Kindergarten: Body percussion flashcards (Students figure out how to perform each pattern on their bodies!)
--1st grade: "Pirate Patterns" for quarter rest: Students identify rhythm patterns, can be used as an assessment
--2nd grade: "Let's go to the beach" for half note: Students identify rhythm patterns, can be used as an assessment
--3rd grade: "You can fly" for spaces: Students identify notes on the spaces of the treble clef, have to spell words in the spaces, and then have to play patterns in the spaces!
--4th grade: "Pattern Match" for BAGED with recorder: Students have to match stick notation patterns to staff notation patterns, then play them on their recorders!
--5th grade: "Take me to your leader" game, to help practice transferring ta/ ti-ti rhythm syllables to 1/ 1 & language, to prepare students for middle school
--1st-5th grade: Summer rhythm flashcards (includes 8 flashcards for each rhythmic concept: ta and ti-ti, rest, tika-tika, half note, ti-tika, tika-ti, syncopa, tim-ka, tam-ti)
--Bonus tika-ti and low sol freebies from Amy Abbott! (Her game isn't included in the page count!)
