PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Need a jump start to your planning for the start of the year in your music room? This helpful product is a growing bundle, and will eventually include the following:

*Monthly planning template for each month: Can be used for each grade level, to plan out the month
*My completed monthly plans for September-December 2016, for grades K-5: These will include song choices, picture books, dances, and more! Several links to resources, picture books, and blog posts will be included. This is intended to give you inspiration for your own plans!
*Lesson Plan Weekly Planning: This document helps you plan which lesson each class/ grade level is on for each week of each month.
*Directions/ Suggestions for Use
*Materials for each month: One file from each grade level, for each month, will be selected to be included in this set. These materials include games and activities not currently in my store. Some will be posted after each month they are posted in this set, and some will be exclusive to this set.

Materials/games for September include:
--Kindergarten: Mini-lessons for "Three Billy Goats Gruff," including vocal and instrumental improvisation (could be used with any picture book for "Three Billy Goats Gruff")
--1st grade: Comparative Visuals: Used to practice comparatives loud, quiet, fast, and slow learned in Kindergarten
--2nd grade: Monster rhythm improvisation cards: Students read rhythm pattern, then the teacher flips the card over, and students improvise a 4-beat pattern. Used to practice ta, ti-ti, and rest.
--3rd grade: "Hide and Seek" game for half note: Students identify rhythm patterns, can be used as an assessment
--4th grade: "Scoot" for tika-ti: Includes cards, worksheet, answer key, and directions for playing Scoot, in which students answer the question on their card, then scoot to the next seat to answer the next question! Can be used as a formative or summative assessment.
--5th grade: Low sol fall-themed stick and staff notation flashcards: Students work in centers or small groups to match the stick notation card to the matching staff notation card.
--1st-5th grade: Fall rhythm flashcards (includes 8 flashcards for each rhythmic concept: ta and ti-ti, rest, tika-tika, half note, ti-tika, tika-ti, syncopa, tim-ka, tam-ti)
--Bonus ta and ti-ti and sol-mi freebies from Amy Abbott! (Her games aren't included in the page count!)

Materials/games for October include:
--Kindergarten: Leaf vocal exploration (interactive powerpoint in which students follow the pathway of the leaf with their voices)
--1st grade: Long and short-short Halloween rhythm flashcards: Students say the pattern with words (i.e. ghost ghost candy ghost), then say it with long and short-short (i.e. long long short-short long)
--2nd grade: Trick or Treat Game for La: Students listen to the pattern and identify which it is. Be careful, though, if they are wrong, they will get a trick instead of a treat!
--3rd grade: "Let's go to the movies" for re: Students identify patterns with do, re, mi, and sol aurally, then to see the movie in 3D, they have to identify that pattern on the staff! Great for assessment!
--4th grade: Sol pentatonic Orff piece and mini-lessons: Includes 4-measure original Orff piece, 3 mini-lessons to sequentially teach it, and an extension octavo
--5th grade: Performance Reflection worksheet: Students answer questions about their performance
--1st-5th grade: Halloween rhythm flashcards (includes 8 flashcards for each rhythmic concept: ta and ti-ti, rest, tika-tika, half note, ti-tika, tika-ti, syncopa, tim-ka, tam-ti)
--Bonus quarter rest freebies from Amy Abbott! (Her games aren't included in the page count!)

Materials/ games for November include:
--Kindergarten: Engine Engine beat chart (includes color and black/white versions)
--1st grade: Long and short-short Thanksgiving game: Students throw a squishy ball at the SMART board and read the pattern that comes up, or choose a pattern from the computer and read that pattern
--2nd grade: "Giraffes can't dance" mini-lesson and Spotify playlist: Includes information about how to use this great picture book in your lessons, as well as a link to a Spotify playlist you can use with the book (you may have to sign up for Spotify to use it, but it is free)
--3rd grade: "Dance Josey" animated Powerpoint slide: Watch in slideshow mode. Students figure out where the barlines go, and then the barlines appear as you click through the slide!
--4th grade: 3-beat meter assessment: Slideshow quiz which can be used for assessment. Have students close their eyes and vote on their answer, or they can use Plickers!
--5th grade: Ball bouncing activity for Amos Lee's "Wait up for me": Great way to have students practice 3/4 and mixed meter!
--1st-5th grade: Thanksgiving rhythm flashcards (includes 8 flashcards for each rhythmic concept: ta and ti-ti, rest, tika-tika, half note, ti-tika, tika-ti, syncopa, tim-ka, tam-ti)

Materials/games for December include:
--Kindergarten: Four voice cards (includes small cards and larger 11" x 8.5" signs)
--1st grade: Reading with Santa game for ta and ti-ti
--2nd grade: Stick notation cards for sol, la, mi, and do
--3rd grade: "Ugly Christmas Sweater" game for lines of the treble clef staff (naming E, G, B, D, and F)
--4th grade: Different types of harmony assessment: Directions and rubric for assessing students on identifying round, canon, ostinato, and partner song. Information is included for assessing with Plickers.
--5th grade: Dynamics and song dice: Students roll a die with Christmas/ holiday songs and another die with dynamics, and sing accordingly!
--1st-5th grade: Winter rhythm flashcards (includes 8 flashcards for each rhythmic concept: ta and ti-ti, rest, tika-tika, half note, ti-tika, tika-ti, syncopa, tim-ka, tam-ti)
