This Science lesson is focusing on Tree Growth and Adaptations. The lesson is directed towards a 5th grade age group. The main purpose is: To learn the visual cues that trees offer an observer into answers about its past, including age and events that may have affected its life processes.
The lesson guides students through a hands on process of determining age and growth patterns of trees. It also exposes the students to some of America's oldest and largest trees.
All supplies are included in the lesson, including the photos of a Bristle Cone Pine, Sequoia, as well as 4 homemade tree ring samples. Also accompanying the lesson is a cover page with learning standards.
