This SMART document is meant to accompany the Plant Inquiry Investigation and Expository Writing. Both files can be used for science units that require students to learn characteristics of organisms and structures for survival of plants. This five day mini-unit also guides students through the expository writing process. This file includes guided instruction on the writing of introductions, body paragraphs, and conclusions after students have completed the research component of the assignment. This lesson can easily be turned into a DBQ. Teachers can use their state writing rubric to grade the assignment.
