This worksheet allows students to work in teams to locate and identify plants and parts of a plant. Teachers collect samples from plant life (leaves, bark, flowers, seeds, etc. from outside the classroom (if possible)), and place them in Ziploc bags. Safari teams are given a bag and the Safari Plant Life Worksheet to examine, draw pictures and take notes, before going outside to investigate and locate their plant. Students next go out to find their plant, flower, etc, and identify it. Students use observation, critical thinking, and teamwork to complete this lab. Can also be easily adapted to use iPads. Students can photograph and label their plant life with the iPad and print/email for assessment. There is an added bonus question on the worksheet for enrichment or early finishers that asks students to use online resources to determine additional plant identification.
