In Virginia, students don't need to actually know which plants are flowering/edible/evergreen/etc., but they are expected to understand the concept. Pictures and simple words are used so students can make predictions.
There are 6 sorts included for use with small-group, whole-group, pocket charts, and more. The following sorts are included:
What do plants need to grow?
Parts of a plant
What does each plant part do?
Flowering and Non-Flowering plant sort
Edible and Non-Edible plant sort
Evergreen and Deciduous plant sort
I've also included a recording sheet and directions for completing a science experiment posing the question, "What do plants need in order to grow?" It uses 6 plants over the course of 13 days to determine what is necessary to sustain life. This is a great tie-in for Scientific Investigation!
