I created this PowerPoint because I teach a large quantity of ELL students who were struggling with this concept. A lot of my students were unfamiliar with the vocabulary associated with this objective, like "product" and "lumber." This PowerPoint has really helped my second graders and I think it will help yours too!
This thorough PowerPoint explores Virginia SOL 2.4 which teaches about products that come from plants. It has 19 detailed slides that explore topics such as:
- What is a plant?
- What is a product?
- What is a plant product?
- The presentation is then broken down into slides to teach the definitions of cotton, paper, lumber, cooking oil, spices, and rubber. It then offers examples, and explanations of where these products come from. There are many images and pictures to serve as a visual aid.
-There are also extension ideas, follow-up activities, and higher-level thinking questions on the last two slides to help reinforce, assess, or extend the topics covered in the PowerPoint.
The "preview image" is just a screen shot I took of one of the "spices" slides to show what the general look of the presentation is like.
I hope you enjoy :)
