This product is a color-by-number activity that allows students to answer various questions related to plant responses to stimuli (plant tropisms). And YES- even secondary students love to color!
There are 12 questions/fill-in-the-blank sentences and 12 answer choices for students to choose from. Each answer choice corresponds to a different color. If all of the correct answer choices are chosen, then their final picture will be colored correctly to reflect complete mastery of the content.
I've also included an optional reading passage for students that discusses the 3 main types of plant tropisms: phototropism, geotropism, and thigmotropism. This passage could be used as a way to differentiate for different leveled learners, or you could use it for students who are just getting exposed to the content.
If you choose not to use the optional reading passage, then students should be familiar with the following terms and ideas in order to be successful with this activity:
•stimulus and response
•roots vs. shoots of plants
•positive phototropism vs. negative phototropism
•positive geotropism vs. negative geotropism
•positive thigmotropism vs. negative thigmotropism
This could be used as a quick assessment, a homework assignment, additional practice, extra credit, or for early finishers. These are also great for days when you have to be out of the classroom - a sub can easily take over this lesson!
