Purpose: The overarching goal of this lesson is to teach students about plants. This unit comes after learning about photosynthesis and plant and animals cells. We want them to understand basic plant anatomy and physiology and the differences between vascular/nonvascular plants and angiosperms/ gymnosperms. It is important for them to have a basic understanding of reproduction in angiosperms.
Objectives: As a result of this lesson:
• Students will be able to differentiate between vascular/nonvascular plants and angiosperms/gymnosperms.
• Students will be able to describe and identify basic plant anatomy (roots, stem, leaves, fruits, seeds)
• Students will have a more detailed understanding of the reproductive process in angiosperms.
