PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

When teaching about plants and animal cells, looking at it from the viewpoint of a Marine Biologist is very intriguing to children. They tend to love ocean life anyway. This unit is a great way to meet the the State Standards in a fun, hands-on, interactive way. A more exciting way to get ready for the state science test and a great open house unit too!! This unit is 30 pages, with 15 student activities. It includes:
- What do Marine Biologist Do? poster
- 2 versions of a student folder front cover
- Marine Life investigation lab
- Talk like a Marine Biologist vocabulary activity
- Poem about cells and writing paper for students to write their own poem
- Think like a Marine Biologist cell function sorting activity
- Animal Cell diagram
- Plant Cell diagram
- Cell Functions Flipbook
- Orca "Peek-A-Boo" project
- Kelp Leaf Chain project
- Cell model investigation lab
- Summary writing prompt
- Marine Life and Their Cells article and comprehension page
- Creative writing activity
- Edible Cell project
- Conservation "collaborative" class art project
- Vocabulary Word Search

I thoroughly enjoy teaching this unit, especially since we view all of it through the lens of Marine Biology. The kids have a really fun time with the unit. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Thank you and happy teaching!!!
