This set contains labels for "stem", "roots", "flower", and "leaves." It also includes 4 picture examples of each of the plant parts, and two worksheets that students can do to help them discovery the characteristics and functions of these parts. Please check out my two free products that might go along well with this lesson.
The following are some ideas of the uses for these materials:
***** Students can be broken up into groups to make a small poster together. They can use the labels as the headings on the poster and cut out the images to sort them into the four categories and glue them under the appropriate heading. There are four pictures for each part, and a blank area for them to draw their own example. Give each group pages 2, 3, and 4 of this activity and have them go to town!
*****Create four big posters around the classroom using the headings. Have the students search for examples in magazines, in real life (go on a nature hike and have plants in the classroom!), and on the internet. This can be like a scavenger hunt for them. Have the students tape or glue their examples on the boards.
******The labels can be taped to kabob sticks to be stuck into their respective vegetables or plant parts.
*****The pictures and words can be used again and again for sorting activities and assessments.
