This powerpoint presentation covers the dispersal of seeds and the different parts of the plant that we use as food.
The seed dispersal section has students determine how different seeds are dispersed (by wind, water, mechanical propulsion, etc.). It shows them a picture of the seed and then gives the answer on the next slide.
The plant part section asks students to determine what part of the plant we are eating when we have lettuce or radishes or peppers (and so on). As with the seed dispersal section it shows students a picture of the vegetable and then gives the answer on the next slide.
This powerpoint presentation can be used in many different ways. It can be used as an introduction to seed dispersal or plant parts to see what students already know. It can also be used as a review or even as an assessment at the end of a unit. I have found it interesting to use it at the beginning of our study of plants to gauge what students know and then use it again at the end as an assessment tool to see how much they have learned.
