Have your students map out where they will plant their seeds before you take them out to the garden.
This activity sheet teaches students how to space out their seeds on 1cm grid paper. You can use pea, bean, radish, or spinach seeds for this exercise. I chose these seeds because they are frost tolerant and can be planted much earlier than other seeds. They are also quick to grow, so students can have fun observing their growth. Extend this activity by recording observations over time and graphing them. Document weather and see if growth changes according to weather.
I have also included instructions for in the garden.
I used some resources from other sources to work this activity through Language, Math, Science, and Social Studies. I have included my day plan with links to the other resources. I have also included a list of the Ontario curriculum that this day plan covers.
