How Does Your Garden Grow? is a ELA Nonfiction unit with multiple resources included.
The original nonfiction text Plants Grow is a primary friendly text with 4 chapters that teach about Plant Parts, Plant Needs, The Plant Life Cycle, and How to Grow a Plant. Read and model finding the main topic and supporting details using text evidence to summarize with the text Plants Grow in conjunction with the included interactive notebook. The text includes a cover, title page, a table of contents, chapters, page numbers, text, captions, photographs, and a back cover so you can begin teaching or reinforce these text features with your students. The text is designed so you can find the main topic and some details for each of the four chapters as well as the main topic and details for the overall text and summarize each using the included graphic organizers.
The interactive notebook includes graphic organizers that focus on main topic/details and summarizing. Each chapter has at least one notebook entry for students to respond to the text. A class book template is also included so students can write their own nonfiction text based on their learning.
There are also several plant science experiments in the unit- including sprouting seeds and an investigation about the function of a plant's stem.
Three leveled emergent readers are also part of the file, all have a plant theme and are nonfiction. There is a leveled reader for your high, mid, and beginning reading groups.
