Get ready to make simple science instruction a breeze with this resource! This is a 20 page booklet about plants and energy with informational text, diagrams, supporting graphics, and room for students to respond to their learning. This resource is aligned with 5th grade Next-Generation Science Standards showing how energy moves through ecosystems and begins with sunlight.

This resource is available as a printable half-page booklet or as a digital unit using Google Slides. Google Slides can be downloaded as PowerPoint for Microsoft users.

The booklet included in this ecosystems resource is formatted to be printed on a half page which allows you to print two booklets at one time.

The lessons included in this upper elementary life science unit is aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards for 5th grade.

The topics explored in this booklet cover:

- the cycle of energy transfer between plants, consumers, and decomposers

- how plants create energy through photosynthesis

- how consumers get that energy through what they eat.

- understanding of how decomposers contribute to the cycle

Activities included in this booklet are fun and keep students interested. This resource has vocabulary activities, a sorting activity, and a place for students to write about what they have learned.
