Included in this set are four activities designed to meet the NGSS second grade standards for plants:
-Plan and conduct an investigation to determine if plants need sunlight and water to grow.
-Develop a simple model that mimics the function of an animal in dispersing seeds or pollinating plants.
-Make observations of plants and animals to compare the diversity of life in different habitats
The labs and activities included are as follows:
-What do plants need to grow?
-Seed Dispersion Engineers (STEM)
All of the labs are hands-on and second grade friendly. The labs require some materials, but most of them are common classroom objects. Teachers using this set will want to gather a collection of various seeds including those from the hardware store as well as the community. The labs can be completed in groups, individually, in pairs, or as a whole group depending on your specific classroom needs. Each lab includes the materials needed, directions, and reflection questions.
