of one of the activities: Plants: Parts of a Plant - Fruit and Seed Observation Activity
with Full Color Photographs and Discussion Questions
♦ Two Individial Assessments
("daily grades") on parts of a plant with identification and explanation of functions. Two styles cover this, one can be causual assessment, one could be quiz....however you want to use them!
♦ Interactive Notebook entry
with a flap diagram for students to identify the parts and explain their purpose. Includes a cloze reading passage or one with the words filled in. Also has extension question to round out the entry. Could be used in a lap book or separately without a notebook!
♦ Water Transportation Demonstration/Lab
Students will watch over time as dyed water travels through the stem and into the flowers of a plant! There is a lab sheet included for observations and teacher notes and photos!
***Also, I included a blank lab sheet that can be used for any lab using the steps of the scientific method.
♦ A Closer Look at Parts of a Plant Lab/Activity
where students will make observations and answer questions about real life examples of parts of a plant. By using a flowering plant (a cheap six pack of annuals from the store, or even some pulled out of your yard!) and a fruit (with seeds visible inside), your students will get their hands on the parts of a plant...literally! Teacher notes included with ideas/variations!
♦ Edible Parts of a Plant Lab/Activity
that you can do with real life examples of vegetables/fruit, or with posters that are provided. Students will try to identify the parts of a plant using the examples provided. I have also included a set of cards that match the posters for students/groups to physically match up to the parts of a plant. Teacher notes are included with ideas and variations for you to use.
♦ Making the Parts of a Plant Project/Craft
including five variations so you can use this as a simple craft activity, an in-class project, or even a major take-home project. Rubrics are provided along with teacher notes, a photo example, and ideas for variations..
♦ Parts of a Plant Study "Fortune Teller"
also known as a "Cootie Catcher," this fun origami aid is great for studying vocabulary!
♦ Fruit and Seed Observation Activity
that includes a chart and follow up questions for students as they observe real-life examples of fruit and seeds (veggies can be fruit too!) Teach notes, ideas and tips included!
♦ Visual Vocabulary Word Wall Cards
for the vocabulary used in the unit: plant, roots, stem, leaves, flower, fruit, seeds, carbon dioxide*, photosynthesis*, energy*, pollination*, reproduce*, pollen* (* - added vocabulary to enrich as needed, does not have to be included on your wall. These are briefly mentioned in the presentation that goes along with this pack, so I included them so you could refer to your vocabulary wall!)
♦ Vocabulary Study Sheet
with and without definitions and visuals. That way, students can fill them in, or just use it as a study aid. (same words as the vocabulary wall - see above)
♦ Vocabulary 3 way (or 2 way) Matching Cards/Game
that is great for groups to match up when first learning the vocabulary, then use as a memory game as they learn more!
*Please note that the presentation is in PDF format, and can be viewed and advanced exactly like a PPT. Go to "View" > "Full Screen", and click to advance. Works with remotes too!
