I believe in learning through making, discovery and personal projects. Children learn best when they are invested in what they are learning and discovering for themselves.
In this plants topic, I go through the structure of a plant, how it spreads its pollen, plants from around the world, the role of bees and finish with a "designing an indoor greenhouse" project.
The lessons involve a lot of "learning by doing". The video describes what the child needs to discover or make, then, lets the child learn for themselves. Sometimes a concept is explained in the video and then explored more offline.
Along the way, we touch on earthquake resistant buildings and insulation as well.
