Students are given a series of 23 maps, models, pictures, diagrams. For each slide they have to write which type of plate boundary it is:
CONSTRUCTIVE – When two plates move away from each other.
DESTRUCTIVE – When an oceanic plate crashes into a continental plate.
COLLISION – When two continental plates crash into one other.
CONSERVATIVE/TRANSFORM – When two plates slide past one another.
There are instructions, and a sample question. The names of the plate margins can easily be changed (for example if you use transform instead of conservative).
The final slides give each picture with the answer so students can check their work.
My students loved it - and it helps them keep straight the different plate boundaries. I use it for an activity - but can be used for assessment as well.
