CONVERGENT (COLLISION; OCEAN-CONTINENT SUBDUCTION; OCEAN-OCEAN SUBDUCTION), DIVERGENT, and TRANSORM (SLIDING):
Pairs great with the ORANGE, GRAHAM CRACKER, and PANGAEA LABS on our TPT.
Note: Pages 3 and 4 are CUTOUTS for pages 2 and 5.
2 different activities: one color-coded and one concept based (NOT color coded). This activity breaks down plate boundaries into 3 basic types with additional sub-categories. The color-coded activity takes each of the 3 basic plate boundaries and organizes them by movement direction, terminology, geologic features, and hand motion. The non-color-coded activity takes each specific plate boundary and organizes them by sketch, direction of movement, plate boundary features, and geologic examples.
This is a fun, quick activity that summaries the core principles of plate tectonic boundaries. The pairs great with the plate tectonic labs provided on our TPT page like the graham cracker, orange, and Pangaea labs. Kids will love it!
This works well for any level but is GREAT for special education students or college prep learners that need an alternative assessment and may not be great at traditional activities/labs.
Also, perfect for homeschooling!
The instructor can determine the difficulty level of the activity or part of the activity based on what information is given and what information is not as well as how verbal questions are presented to the student(s).
This has been used as a pre-class, lab/activity, study guide, review, and assessment. This is an effective teaching tool one on one, in small groups, and as a class when using a Smart Board/Promethean Board/Projection.
A guaranteed hit all around!
A great addition to your geologic teaching library.
Within the classroom this activity was consistently very successful and acclaimed by students in grades 4th - 8th. Cut and paste or Velcro and laminate for special education applications and alternative assessments.
