Project Based Learning (PBL) activities aim to take the student out of the classroom setting and put them into a real-world situation to help them learn in a more meaningful and hands-on way.
This project makes the student a recently certified seismologist. Their first project in their new line of work is to track the last few examples of seismic activity, plot them on a graph and a map, present the information to their "boss" (teacher), and make a public service announcement/ warning announcement to alert the people of a place with higher occurrences of seismic activity to the dangers that may be before them. The project is for groups, but there are ways that each student can get an individual grade. A rubric is also included for easy grading for the teacher.
