Product Description
Emergent Reader: Play Ball!: Sight Words (we, play) ---

This emergent reader, “Play Ball!,” is connected to several CCGPS listed below. This seven page book is designed so that you can copy the book, cut it in half, staple, and then it is ready for use. The seven pages consist of a title page “Play Ball!” then each of the remaining six pages contains a black and white picture at the top of each page and a sentence under the picture. Every page contains the sentence “We play (type of ball)” (including the word to match picture, such as “We play baseball.”). The six pictures included are football, baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis, and a boy and girl with a beach ball on the last page. This last page says “Play Ball!” showing a boy and a girl with a beach ball. Students can benefit from this reader by tracking print, identifying spaces between words, identifying particular letters of the alphabet, recognizing sounds (beginning, middle, and ending) in each word, and reading sight words and grade level text. For extension activities, students could add another sentence to each page giving details about each ball. The black and white pictures allow students the opportunity to color the pictures. This reader is great for guided reading groups, homework, or literacy center activities.
