Behind the Play Builds Kids Training Program ...
Play is the way a child naturally explores their world, builds their physical skills, links their body and brain and ignites the imagination. Active play is a powerful tool to develop childhood health and deepen learning.
The Play Builds Kids Manual Three: Go! Stop! Go! builds a child’s abilities to coordinate movement, develop balance and agility, gain perceptual awareness and embed the mind-body connections for good deep learning. That learning is based on the educational concept of scaffolding.
First, we create basic movement patterns; then we make refinements as those patterns become more established. Third, we strengthen the body using these patterns and finally we introduce variations which increase body awareness and precision.
These fundamental movements offer students: ability development. Mastery in movement skills construct developmental gains: physically, affectively and cognitively. In this form of active play children exercise the brain’s motor planning and sequencing processes.
Recent brain research studies give evidence that skills taught by movement and rhythm strengthen mental components that build longer attention spans and improve learning capacities, as well as significant improvement in coordination, language processing and focus.
In using the series of six Manuals, your students’ training will follow a logical and progressive training plan and expand both your children’s movement vocabulary and their language vocabulary. Each of the 48 tasks is illustrated with drawings or photographs, that show regular kids doing skills that are bound to bring your youngsters to a quick understanding of the fun in action.
The reader will use the carefully written text to guide the student’s activity that are rhythmically lively: to get your kids up and moving. Cue words and teaching hints are highlighted for the teacher. Throughout the Manuals there is a consistent use of specific cue words to identify body positions, qualities of movement, directions from their place in space.
In the Play Builds Kids six-part Training Series uses basic tasks to guide children as they master the fundamental movement skills [FMS]. As each simple skill is mastered, the program builds upon the previous tasks and the youngsters develop an I Can Do That! confidence…. and have FUN in moving well!
The Go! Stop! Go! Manual focuses on starting and stopping motion while keeping the body in control. You will be able to aid your students in their development of balance and posture, as they gain body control and alignment. The exercises and drills are an easy way to guide physical activity on the playground, in gymnasiums or in any safe space.
Throughout the 6 volumes, emphasis is placed on the careful use of the feet. The feet build balance and provide the ability to leave the ground and to control landings. These foot skills must be practiced carefully to recruit the body’s proprioception system.
Play Builds Kids Movement and Sports Training Manuals develop footwork, body-control, locomotion, object handling skills, balance and coordination.
