I created a checklist (half-sheet of paper per child) as a morning work activity for my students. They use their play dough to finish the tasks. As they complete each task, they ask a friend to check it for them. If it is correct, their neighbor puts a checkmark on the corresponding number. When they are completely finished, they raise hands to be checked by me. I assess their completion by saying something like, "Tell me about your picture. How do you know that starts with Rr?" I use this to review the previous week's letters on Monday morning. I hope this idea helps you in your classroom!
