INTRODUCTION: This game gives student exposure to closed syllable words. A closed syllable is one of the six syllable types in reading and the most basic syllable type to teach. Fifty percent of our English language is closed syllable type words. So once a student learns this syllable type, they have a great foundation upon which to build more reading skills. The definition of a closed syllable word is a word whose vowel sound is short, and the vowel is closed off to its right by one or more consonants. The game cards includes words spelled with all the short vowels in conjunction with common phonograms such as, -ab, -ad, -aft, -ang, ect. . . The game is played just like UNO. There are Draw 2, Reverse, Skip, Wild, Wild 4 cards, and 120+ closed syllable word cards in the deck.
