Use this as a quick observation activity or an opportunity to head outside for 10- 15 minutes to engage in a quick movement activity, a brain break, or an activity to get kids observing their environment. I have done it in conjunction with the FOSS Sound unit, reinforcing the concept that sounds have identifiable characteristics. I have also used it just as an exercise in making observations. Borrow a set of rhythm sticks from our building music teacher, and set the kids loose on the playground. They'll have a blast!
