These playful penguins will help your students build number sense while composing and decomposing numbers in base ten. This unit comes with 6 different activities created to help your students understand place value in different ways. All of these activities are based on the Common Core Math Standard for Numbers and Operations in Base Ten.
The activities included are:
*Penguin Place Value Match (match the number to the place value tools picture, and the decomposed number broken down into tens and ones)
*Penguin Place Value Least to Greatest (ordering numbers least to greatest)
*Penguin Place Value Bingo-6 boards (students must decode place value tool pictures to match what the bingo caller says)
*Penguin Place Value Color by Place Value (3 sheets that allow students to practice locating tens, ones, or tens and ones in multiple numbers)
*Penguin Place Value Board Game (students must identify the place, tens or ones, of a particular number in a 2 or 3 digit number)
*Penguin Spin a Number (students use two or three spinners to create the largest number possible to earn a point)
I hope you enjoy these activities. They are perfect for math stations or math small group to introduce or reinforce base ten number sense.
