This activity focuses on enhancing the content knowledge students have about the kinds of things they can find on a playground. Students also practice following directions and will understand what a scavenger hunt is. In lessons before the hunt, you can teach students different types of bugs, birds, clouds, trees, flowers, and rocks as content knowledge and can then tailor the hunt for them to find these specific types of creatures native to your own school-ground. It also encourages students to use their knowledge of and learn new adjectives (shiny, squishy, round, small, etc). You can modify the hunt based on your students' abilities and the kind of vocab you've already worked on in class.
