Playing With Friends is a social story intended to help students join and sustain play with their peers. This story can be used with one student, a small group, or with an entire class.
Social Stories are a great way to introduce, reinforce, promote, and prompt positive or desired behaviours in the classroom, or new or social situations. This story may be helpful for students on the autism spectrum, for students who have difficulty playing with peers, and for early primary students.
This social story uses Boardmaker symbols, which helps to keep communication and visuals simple and consistent for students who already use Boardmaker symbols in their daily routines and communication. I also find the simplicity of Boardmaker symbols easy for young students to interpret without having to know how to read.
