This is a small group reader's theater is for 3 students. In the script, Antony has found some matches on the playground and wants to play with them. The other students know it is wrong and explain why he shouldn’t. The students begin to discuss fire safety in the home and what they can do to prevent fires. Anthony learns not to play with matches and goes to turn them in.You can use this script to introduce the subject and begin a discussion. The reason this script is slightly cheaper than others is because it is not yet rated.
I use reader's theaters to encourage my students to practice fluency. It is a fun way to do something that they need. Most of my scripts are in black and white so they photo copy easily. The problem with many other reader's theaters is that students spend a lot of time waiting for their part. When you have a small group they get more practice in and less off task behaviors take place.
My name is Melanie Whitesides but my store name is Wonbyone and I hope that your students enjoy this script as much as mine did. This script is one of the pack that I use at the beginning of the year to introduce important subjects and expectations for my classroom. If you want them all it is in the pack called Small Group Reader's Theater - Scripts for Character Education. Let me know how things go!
