This resource was created with English Language Learners in mind. Since using pronouns correctly doesn’t come natural, give them “plenty of pronouns practice” with these activities and assignments. I used these activities with my second grade class of mainly ELLs, and I've seen great improvements in their writing conventions!
This resource includes:
Eleven definition posters/charts to print out or digitally project
Four sets of task cards that can be used as centers or as “Hunt the Room” or “Scoot” activities (subject OR object pronoun, subject/linking verb agreement, indefinite pronouns and reflexive pronouns)
Three Bingo boards (object pronouns, subject pronouns, and reflexive pronouns) to use in small groups or as whole group lessons – Have students write in the types of pronouns around three times each. There’s a sheet with sample sentences. You can read the sentences directly for proper modeling of the pronouns or see if the students can determine the underlined word.
Three cut and paste activities (subject pronouns, possessive pronouns, and reflexive pronouns)
Three “Slides and Ladders” games to provide practice with using pronouns in speaking (pronoun contractions, possessive pronouns and reflexive pronouns)
A pronoun hunt to use with books and classroom text
Sentence Writing practice (subject pronouns, pronoun contraction, and indefinite pronouns)
A test to assess learning
