I created this graphic organizer to give my students a visual on how characters change as they progress through the text. I have used this in multiple ways: I have shrunk it down to 5 boxes and used one box for each part of the plot and I have also used it while reading novels for students to fill out after each chapter.
What is nice is it provides students a chance to summarize (RL 2), connect to the character (Students choose if they would have reacted the same way or not) and see how their character changes by comparing the adjectives they choose.
Also - I have found it is a great thing to do with my higher level readers. They can read ahead while I work with small groups, but this gives me a quick formative to make sure they are on track!
