Many times my students have come up against texts that challenge them and just give up. Sounds familiar, right? We know that one of the ways to help them access these texts is to reread. Unfortunately, students can see this as a punishment or waste of time. “Literature Links” is an activity I use with my students to get them back into texts with a purpose. Using this activity, students will:
• Review key plot points
• Examine cause and effect relationships
• Analyze and evaluate key plot points by deciding importance and ordering events
• Examine the role of a particular scene in a plot
This pack contains the activity directions, all copy masters, extension activities, and a rubric.
This activity supports the following CCSS:
• 5.RL.2; 5.RL.5
• 6.RL.1; 6.RL.2; 6.RL.3; 6.RL.7
• 7.RL.1; 7.RL.2; 7.RL.3
