1. Students construct the plot diagram by cutting and pasting. It will connect the parts of the plot diagram, to definitions, then to the mnemonic device "Somebody, Wanted, But, So, In the End" to assist students when writing summaries.
Red Strips - Labels (i.e. - exposition, rising action...)
White Strips - Definition/purpose (i.e. - "introduces/expose characters...)
Blue Strips - Mnemonic Device "Somebody, Wanted, But, So, In the End"
Includes a student directions sheet.
2. This connects to the a writing assignment. Students can summarize the Pixar Short Knick Knack by using the Mnemonic.
Lesson includes a scaffolded writing assignment. Students will summarize the Pixar Short "Knick Knack". Students have a simple notes sheet to complete while watching the short, then have a formal summary assessment that is scaffolded with sentence stems/questions in the margins.
Does not include video of the short.
