Finding the missing pieces of Plot: Both activities help students answer the overarching question of: "Why are all elements of the plot necessary to tell a story?"
DURATION: 1-2 class sessions for both activities
These two activities focus on plot elements, making inferences, and group collaboration.
1) The first activity engages the students in READING with plot elements (you will choose a short story of your own preference).
2) The second activity helps students navigate WRITING with plot elements. (This activity is always pretty funny--the stories they come up with are always pretty ridiculous and never cease to make me giggle...yet, they will still learn how to breakdown elements of plot.)
There are two accompanying worksheets for the activities as well as a full description of how to teach the lesson(s).
