This file contains both a description of the plot mountain project and a rubric. This plot mountain project requires the students to create a visual that identifies and explains the different parts of plot mountain (exposition, inciting incident, rising actions, climax, falling actions, resolution) as well as the setting, protagonists and antagonists, and a theme. Students will create a poster that displays these elements and then requires a short explanation for each element.
Students love to get creative and the challenge of identifying the different parts of the plot! I start off the year teaching these different aspects and then we walk through identifying the different parts on the first poster that they create and then they must complete one on their own at the end of the year. There is also a short section of notes that we use to help students! This makes for a great wrap up to any book that you are reading in class or could be used for independent reading.
