PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Texas 6th Grade ELA TEKS differentiates climax and turning point. Looking through many resources and websites to find the difference was frustrating. Many sources do not use climax and turning point interchangeably. Trying to explain the difference can be frustrating and tedious. This lesson clarifies the differences in a way that 6th graders could understand. I include a script for the anchor lesson portion which would be helpful as a guide for new teachers or a refresher for veteran teacher. I also give suggestions of 3 different texts to use for the lesson and provide the story events that correspond with each plot element for all 3 texts.

TEKS: 6.6.A summarize the elements of plot development (e.g., rising action, turning point, climax, falling action, denouement) in various works of fiction
