This is a simple graphic organizer to break down plot structure. I make it double sided and we read one short story and fill it out together and then they read one with a partner or small group and fill it out on their own. To get kids engaged in the activity, I type up the main events or details in a simple story and cut them into strips. The kids work to arrange them in chronological order and when they are finished we discussed why they thought that event or detail belonged there. This leads into a short lecture on traditional plot structure.
