Product Description
Common Core Standard: Describe how a particular story’s plot or drama’s plot unfolds in a series of episodes as well as how the characters respond or change as the plot moves toward a resolution.

These 3 graphic organizers can be used with a variety of stories both print and media. I have used them with Pixar Short films, short stories and novels.

Step 1: The first organizer is a guided plot diagram. After being given a mini lesson on the elements of plot, students look at short films and short stories to fill out the plot diagram.

Step 2: The second organizer is a character analysis organizer. After being given a mini lesson on characterization, using the same short films and short stories, students analyze characters.

Step 3: The third organizer brings together plot and character development. Students fill out this graphic organizer to “see how characters respond or change as the plot moves toward a resolution.”
