This two-fold lesson activity for grades 7-12 requires students to think critically about how Hitler consolidated his power in Germany. It comes with simple notes to share with students, which they will use to connect his actions to aspects of fascism and totalitarianism. Students do this by matching these facets to a timeline chronicling Hitler's actions. Second, there is a writing prompt and three exemplars to support students in writing a claim-based paragraph about how Hitler consolidated his power. It comes with an answer key and directions for easy printing and preparation. It addresses the Enabling Act, Concordant, Gestapo, Joseph Goebbels, and the Night of the Long Knives.
