PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This file includes worksheets to practice writing plural nouns for words that end with y. The number of words to sort is different on each, but the task is the same.

Rules:
consonant + y = drop the y add -ies
vowel + y= just add -s

I asked my students look at the first word, boy, and determine whether the letter before the final y is a vowel or a consonant. Then we discussed the rule: just add -s. They were asked to highlight all the words that have a, e, i, o, u just before the final y. This set them up for success with writing plural nouns.

Many students could sort these independently. You can decide the amount of support they will need.
