Place value game supports fluent addition and subtraction of ones and tens. This game can be played with 2-3 students and works great for extra independent practice!
One regular die
One pawn (or counter) for each player
Paperclip and pencil (or bass fastener) for spinner
Player rolls a die and moves that many spaces around the game board. Once they land on a number they spin the spinner and solve. If they get the answer incorrect, they must go back to the number they were on previously.
Teacher may choose to have students keep track of “laps” around the board every time they pass the start square so there is a winner at the end (example: first player to reach six laps wins, or the player with the most laps at the end of a specified amount of time wins).
Teacher may also allow manipulatives for students to use while playing (base ten materials, 100 chart, etc.)
